Description

The Roger Pen features cutting-edge wireless technology that keeps the direction of sound in mind. What’s more, with its fully automatic setting you can use the Pen in many everyday noisy environments such as:

  1. In small group conversations
  2. In one-on-one conversations
  3. During lectures or in class
  4. Outdoors and indoors activities (gym, guided tour)
  5. Watching TV
  6. Phone calls
  7. Other Audio Devices

Thanks to its range of up to 10 metres, you can always be a part of the conversation. In addition, it can also be used alongside other Phonak Roger microphones in a microphone network.

Roger Pen is a highly flexible, intelligent product: it can detect which situation you find yourself in and adapt its microphone settings accordingly. In this way, it can give you the best speech understanding possible.

How to use:

Connecting the Pen to hearing aids:

A Roger receiver is required to bring the signal from Roger Pen into the hearing system. For most Phonak hearing aids as well as all recent cochlear implant sound processors, there is a design integrated Roger receiver. For other hearing aids, the universal Roger X or Roger MyLink can be used.

Roger X Receiver: A Roger X receiver are small and discreet receivers that would be attached to each of the hearing aids using a specific adapter known as a ‘Shoe’. These Roger X receivers and shoes are sold separately.

Roger MyLink Receiver: This receiver is worn around your neck and acts in the same way as the Roger X receiver. You would only need to purchase one, rather than two. The Roger MyLink is also sold separately.

Alternatively, some Phonak devices include receiver technology which means no additional receivers/parts are required. These devices are named the Roger iN.

In small group conversations:

If your group is seated at a table, you simply place your Pen in the middle of the table and the audio of the person talking at that time will transmit to your hearing aid – background noise is no problem for the Pen. If your group is not at a table, you can simply hold the Pen and point it in the direction of the person speaking. The audio is then transmitted to your hearing aids.

In one-on-one conversations:

To hear the conversational partner simply attach the Pen to the lanyard provided. After, your partner then wears this around their neck and audio is streamed into your hearing aids.

Watching TV:

Using the different types of audio cable provided you can choose to connect your docking station to your television. Place the Pen into your docking station and the TV audio will be streamed to your hearing aids.

Phone Calls:

Connect your Pen to your mobile phone using the suitable audio cables provided. Phonak’s Roger Pen has the same wireless transmitting microphone capability as the Roger Pen but does not have the Bluetooth function, for mobile phone use or manual control of the microphone setting.

With Other Audio Devices:

To stream audio from other devices such as an MP3 Player, PC or HiFi you use the same method as you would with your TV. Connect your Pen using the audio cables provided and the audio is ready.

Compatibility:

You can use the Roger Pen with most hearing aids, cochlear implants and bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHA). If you are unsure if your device is compatible, then please get in touch with our dedicated support staff. Do note, however, that a Roger receiver is required to bring the signal from the Roger Pen into the hearing system.
